Bensler Fans Are Fed Up With Baiting After Sizzling SVU Promo
Looks like the 'Olivia and Elliot' ship is stuck in port for now.
Fans of the long-running crime drama Law & Order: SVU were buzzing with excitement over the latest promotional teaser for the show, which seemed to hint at a long-awaited moment between main characters Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler.
However, some fans were left feeling disappointed and frustrated by the teaser, which many felt was just another example of the show "baiting" viewers with the possibility of a romance between the characters, only to ultimately disappoint them. They are certainly not wrong, as the same thing happened so many times before in the show's 20+ years run.
"I'm so exhausted from the limbo state of their relationship," a fan admitted on Reddit, and, honestly, don't we all at this point?
Many fans took to social media to vent their frustration, with some accusing the show's creators of being "petty" and "small-minded" for refusing to give viewers what they want after so many years of following the show. Others don't consider the promo as baiting, but still frustrated with the possibility of TPTB dragging the whole 'Olivia and Elliot finally getting together' storyline out a little longer.
One fan wrote, "Imagine having this big of a fanbase for 300 years and refusing to give them the one thing they want? I'm over them baiting us for 20 years, and more recently, once a season and nothing coming of it."
Despite all the accusations of baiting, many fans said that they would still tune in to watch the episode in question, but that they had accepted that nothing would likely come of the tease.
"Until it actually airs, I choose to believe that it's nothing more than a hug," as one of the Bensler fans put it.
While some fans may be disappointed, others are still holding out hope that Olivia and Elliot will finally share a kiss in the upcoming episode. For now pretty much nobody (except for the writers) can tell if this long-awaited moment will finally happen, but one thing is for sure: fans of Law & Order: SVU will be tuning in to find out.
