Behind The Scenes: How Yellowstone Cast Really Feels About Kevin Costner
Despite decades as a star at the top of his game, Kevin Costner is generally considered to still be a down-to-earth man who just happens to have a great talent for acting.
But what do his Yellowstone cast mates think about working alongside the Hollywood legend who plays John Dutton?
Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, the daughter of Costner's character, agrees with the widely held view of the Untouchables star.
She described him as "one of the nicest, most generous actors (she has) worked with'' and someone she has learned a lot from working with.
Reilly's on-screen brother, Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton) is equally positive. He told Monsters and Critics that working with Kevin Costner is a "pinch-me moment" and said that he's well aware that has to make the most of his opportunity to work with an industry icon and tries to "soak in as much knowledge" as he can.
Grimes went on to describe how Kevin Costner still likes to learn new things when it comes to acting and is an inspiration to young actors in terms of how he approaches his work.
Costner's other son in the show, Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) has never really gotten on with his father throughout the show.
But the tension between the two is not something that is replicated in real life. In fact, Bentley says that Costner has been an idol of his since he was a child.
And, when he finally got to meet his acting hero, he was pleased to discover that he is everything the young Wes expected and more.
While not blood-related, ranch foreman Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) is extremely close to John – a relationship that is just as close offscreen between the two actors. Cole has said on numerous occasions that, like Wes Bentley, he idolizes Costner.
Even those who spend less time on set with Kevin Costner have nothing but good to say about him.
Kelsey Asbille (Monica Long) says he makes everyone feel comfortable and reiterates her cast members' view of him as a true professional.
And finally, Brecken Merrill who portrays the youngster, Tate Dutton, has said how he feels blessed to be working alongside Hollywood royalty and that his time on the show has made him realise that his future lies in acting.
So, when you see him headlining the cast of a blockbuster movie or breakthrough TV show in the future, you'll know you have Kevin Costner to thank.
