Before Barbie And Secret Invasion, Kingsley Ben-Adir Actually Was in Peaky Blinders
How did a Peaky Blinders' colonel become a Marvel villain and then Barbie's Ken?
Kingsley Ben-Adir has been recently gaining popularity in the entertainment industry. If you've been following this talented actor, you know he's been part of some major projects.
But you might be surprised to find out that before he dazzled audiences in the recent movies and TV shows, this talented actor had a role in the critically acclaimed series Peaky Blinders.
The biggest projects of 2023 featuring Kingsley Ben-Adir are Barbie and Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
With Secret Invasion, Kingsley Ben-Adir became part of the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the Disney Plus series, he brings to life the character Gravik, the evil leader of the Skrulls behind their mission to invade Earth.
The story, involving shapeshifting Skrulls, promised to be a thrilling addition to the MCU. While Kingsley Ben-Adir delivered a solid performance, unfortunately, the series fell short, disappointing many fans.
In Greta Gerwig's highly anticipated Barbie, Ben-Adir plays one of the main Ken dolls alongside Ryan Gosling ’s Ken and Simu Liu’s Ken. Kingsley Ben-Adir’s portrayal of Ken proved his versatility with some fans even being surprised he is the same actor who portrayed the bad guy in Secret Invasion.
But before these relatively big roles, Ben-Adir starred in Peaky Blinders. At the heart of Peaky Blinders, a crime drama that's been hailed as one of the best in its genre, is the Shelby family, led by Tommy Shelby, played to perfection by Cillian Murphy.
Tommy's rise from a war-torn soldier to the head of a criminal empire was truly breathtaking. Season 4 introduced us to Ben Younger, portrayed by Kingsley Ben-Adir.
Younger was a colonel and the head of army intelligence officers. He wasn't just a passing character; he played a pivotal role, especially in his interactions with Ada Shelby.
Their relationship took a passionate turn, leading to Ada becoming pregnant with Younger's child. Tragically, Ben's life was cut short before he could learn about the impending arrival of his child, leaving Ada heartbroken.
Ben-Adir’s other prominent roles that definitely deserve you attention are: High Fidelity, The OA, The Photograph, and One Night in Miami. The latter is still considered to be Ben-Adir's best performance. In this movie, he impeccably portrayed the legendary Malcolm X.
