Fan theory provides a different perspective on one of the beloved characters.

Released more than a year ago, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish still manages to make fans discuss it, speculate and come up with theories.

One interesting theory was shared by a fan on Reddit. The theory revolves around the Map to the Wishing Star and Perrito.

The Map to the Wishing Star is a magical artifact that guides its beholder through the Dark Forest to the Wishing Star. What is crucial is that the map provides different paths depending on a person who holds the map.

A fan suggests in their theory that after watching Puss in Boots: The Last Wish for the third time, they noticed something intriguing about Perrito's version of the map.

The purpose of the map is to guide the holder towards realizing they don't actually need their wish by the time they reach the Star, however, Perrito didn't have any wishes from the beginning.

The fan argues that there's more to it than just Perrito lacking a wish as It becomes evident that Perrito needs a loving family.

Right from the beginning of the quest, Puss and Kitty argue over who should hold the map.

However, once Perrito's path is revealed, they unanimously agree that he should be the one to hold it. Interestingly, throughout the entire film, there are no further disputes regarding the map.

At each stage of Perrito's journey, the trio encounters situations that strengthen their bond. Therefore, the fan reasonably concludes that Perrito's path has led him to find the loving family he needed.

That is a very reasonable and well spotted detail. It is indeed possible that Perrito didn't consciously wish for a family, but it was clear that he actually needed it.

So it is plausible that the map helped him with his need, and he has found a family along the way.

On the contrary, the opposite theory implies that the map's actual purpose is to distract people from reaching the Star.

So the map used what Perrito loved as a distraction on his path. If it wasn't for Puss and Kitty, Perrito would likely have gone astray.
