Chapters 9 and 10 are ready to come!

A good old crime drama is a perfect watch for you if you are a fan of complex series that revolve around mysteries and powerful characters. Detective dramas have a very unique vibe that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats every episode, making them wait in agony for the next plot twist.

There are many shows with similar crime drama premice, but only few of them turn out to be masterpieces. For example, there’s a brilliant BBC series called Shetland, which premiered in 2013 and since then turned British viewers and audiences from all over the world into obsessed fans.

Shetland is a hit drama, with its recent series gaining over 7 million viewers. The story already has 8 seasons, and the good news is that the show was finally prolonged for two more seasons.

What Is Shetland About?

The crime drama is based on the award winning crime writer Ann Cleeves’ books. At the center of the detective drama is a local Shetland police team and their best efforts to solve the mysterious crimes that are happening in their community around Shetland.

The series premiered in 2013 and ran for 8 seasons, following a number of professional detectives at different times in their careers. New seasons will follow the beloved main characters, including of course Ashley Jensen and Alison O'Donnell, who will reprise their roles as Detectives Ruth Calder and Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh.

Frankly, it was their on-screen chemistry that made the show a huge success in Scotland and around the world. As the drama's director Lindsay Salt mentioned, there's so much in store for them and viewers should be ready to see the two partners delve deeper into their crime stories.

After the show wrapped up season 8, there was a lot of disappointment among viewers that the show would end with so many loose ends.

Now that the series has been renewed for two more seasons, it's time to binge watch seasons 1 through 8 on Prime.
