Bautista MCU Departure is Actually a Huge Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Spoiler
He could have waited until after the movie was out, at least.
Dave Bautista has made waves in the Marvel fandom after announcing that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will basically be his final MCU movie, because for many people, that was a huge spoiler.
Of course Bautista only said that he was "grateful" for Drax and never directly confirmed that his character was about to get killed off, but fans have quickly put two and two together, recalling how the first trailer for the upcoming movie hinted at someone important dying — or at least being on the verge of death.
Back when the trailer was released, fans decided that it hinted at the death of Rocket, but now that Bautista has announced that he will not be returning as Drax, things have changed.
"Damn, he could at least have waited until Guardians 3 was out because now we know Drax definitely dies," Twitter user Captain63857795 said.
However, other people believe that Bautista's exit from MCU does not necessarily mean that Drax will die.
"Gunn's already said that this is the last time we'll see THESE particular Guardians, in THIS format. We could potentially get a different iteration of the team, though," Twitter user Zubzie3 suggested.
Some people do not rule out that Drax will simply leave the team. Basically, the actor's statement did not kill off the intrigue of the movie entirely, as Marvel films have never limited themselves to just one death.
Bautista himself feels ready for new jobs on his acting portfolio — this time, less goofy and more serious.
"I'm so grateful for Drax. I love him," he told GQ. "But there's a relief [that it's over]. It wasn't all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don't know if I want Drax to be my legacy—it's a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff."
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 hits screens on May 5, 2023.
