It had plenty of easter eggs and cameos, but this one? A crime to exclude.

No matter what's your choice between Barbie and Oppenheimer ( if you even choose at all), we're pretty sure you've already watched (or at least heard) Greta Gerwig's summer masterpiece spearheaded by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Barbie is stuffed with winks and nods to pop culture, meta quips like "note to filmmakers," and plenty of other little things that make it so grand and beloved (and commercially successful). But it seems that it could be even better if the creators didn't decide to cut one of the best cameos in the entire movie.

It turns out that Barbie initially had a post-credit scene with the cameo from Helen Mirren who narrated the movie. In the axed scene, shared by one of the movie's dancers, Tom Clark, we learn that at some point, Mirren was supposed to walk in on Midge in labor.

Mirren's actual on-screen appearance would have added yet another meta layer to what's probably the most meta movie in 2023. In the axed scene, the legendary actress would have most likely portrayed herself, acknowledging her iconic status (and maybe dropping a couple more ironic lines).

Well, now that we know the scene existed, it's really painful to realize that the final cut didn't include it, reasons unknown. Seriously, this would be the most perfect way to wrap up the pink extravaganza.

However, even without Mirren's physical appearance on screen, Barbie has conquered box office: in its second weekend, Gerwig's movie earned $39 million, currently standing at $795 million globally, just days away from joining the billion dollar club.
