Back to the Roots: Original Naruto Anime Gets New Episodes (Yes, You Heard Right)
Ahh, Naruto! For many people, this was their first introduction to the world of the anime industry.
However, not everyone made it to the end: the total length of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden was about 15 years!
Not to mention Boruto, the sequel and spin-off dedicated to the children of the main characters, which is inferior in quality (both script and visuals), although the ratings were quite high back in 2017.
Apparently, the creators have understood this as well because they decided to release completely new episodes dedicated to the titular protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, set in the time of the original series.
Last October, the franchise, which spans multiple manga and anime series, video games, and film adaptations, celebrated its 20th anniversary: the original series, based on the manga written by Masashi Kishimoto, was first aired on October 3, 2002.
To that end, the official Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Twitter account posted three images on the same day that summarize the journey and growth of Naruto and Sasuke, as well as their friends and foes.
But the creators of the anime have decided not to dwell on last year's hype. In July of this year, specially selected episodes of the anime will be broadcast on Japanese television, recapitulating everything that happened to Naruto and his team.
Well, a good opportunity to remember the journey of the shinobi boy from the hidden leaf village of Konoha.
And this September, according to the official Naruto website, 4 original episodes will be released, which will apparently also focus on the adventures of Naruto on his way to becoming a powerful jinchūriki.
Now, whether or not the decision to release new episodes of an already completed story was motivated by the pursuit of profit, we still hope for a fascinating story that will evoke a warm feeling of nostalgia.
Well, it's time to remember (or learn) all the ninja hand signs. Just don't break your fingers!
All three anime series, Naruto, Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, are available on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu. Part I of Boruto will end on March 26th, while Part II is already in development.
