Are Two Ahsoka Actresses Friends in Real Life?
Ashley Eckstein and Rosario Dawson seem to have more in common than just playing the same character.
Ahsoka Tano made her Star Wars debut in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which served as a prelude to the animated television series of the same name.
She was voiced by Ashley Eckstein, who had previously appeared in small and supporting roles on TV shows such as That's So Raven and Blue Collar TV.
The young Jedi Padawan quickly became the most important role of Eckstein's career, and she continued to voice Ahsoka throughout her appearances in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2020), Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018), and Tales of the Jedi (2022-present), becoming inseparable from the character for many fans.
So when rumors of Ahsoka's first live-action appearance surfaced in the second season of The Mandalorian, many fans wondered if Ashley would reprise her role.
However, Rosario Dawson, who you may know from her countless appearances on the big screen, became the live-action version of the iconic Jedi and quickly earned the love of fans for her great performance.
She later reprised the role in the spin-off TV series The Book of Boba Fett, and will also star in the upcoming Ahsoka TV series, which will focus entirely on the character.
But did you know that the two actresses are friends in real life?
In an interview with SFF Gazette, Eckstein shared her experience of visiting the Ahsoka set and meeting Dawson.
She expressed her gratitude for being involved in the creation of the character in the first place and said that "to have that recognized by Rosario [...] means the world to her."
She also mentioned that having a friendship with Dawson is very special and that she is "looking forward to building this friendship with her over the years and continuing to shine Ahsoka's light both on and off screen," calling it an honor and a privilege.
The first two of eight episodes of Ahsoka will premiere on August 23, 2023.
