…And other ways to turn the 'Lord of the Rings' lore into that of 'Game of Thrones'.

With just a few days left before the premiere of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ', Tolkien fans can't help but be concerned. They have a lot of reasons, but this time, it's the possibility of 'The Rings of Power' having nude scenes that has them triggered.

These concerns first emerged back in 2020, when 'The Rings of Power' were just announced. At the time, reports suggested that the show might include "nudity and maybe sex scenes" – and fans immediately went ballistic, arguing that this would effectively turn 'The Rings of Power' into a bad variant of 'Game of Thrones '.

Now that memes and concerns have re-emerged, the arguments have not changed much. Tolkien fans remain adamant that Middle-earth does not need nudity and sex scenes, with the LoTR lore being about other, completely different, things.

Moreover, despite the show facing a lot of criticism over heavy CGI reliance and questionable story, many people believe that it will still be interesting enough without sex and gore.

"The main reason shows have nudity is to improve ratings and keep viewers interested. Very rarely is it actually conducive to the story. LOTR adaptations need no nudity because the writing and story are interesting enough to keep the viewers engaged," one of the LoTR fans wrote on Reddit.

However, fans might not need to worry: several months ago, 'The Rings of Power' showrunner Patrick McKay dismissed claims that the show will have a Westerosi level of violence and nudity. He outlined that the Amazon goal was "to make a show for everyone, for kids who are 11, 12, and 13, even though sometimes they might have to pull the blanket up over their eyes if it's a little too scary."

"It's about friendship and it's about brotherhood and underdogs overcoming great darkness," McKay said back at the time, noting that the creative team adheres to the tone set in the Tolkien books.

So worry not, Tolkien fans – when 'The Rings of Power' premieres on September 2 on Prime Video, you won't see another version of 'House of the Dragon '... at least according to the showrunners.
