Is Apollo the changeling himself?

Apple TV+ introduced us to The Changeling, a spine-chilling horror series inspired by Victor LaValle's book. The story revolves around Apollo Kagwa, played by LaKeith Stanfield.

Everything seems perfect in Apollo's life until his wife mysteriously disappears, and the tragic loss of their firstborn sends him spiraling into despair.

The first two episodes set the stage, and by the third episode, we're shown the strains parenthood can put on a relationship, especially when past traumas are lurking in the shadows.

Emma, seemingly under a spell, poses a threat to their child, and Apollo is left grappling with the aftermath of a traumatic event. The third episode concludes with hints pointing towards witchcraft and the possibility of a group that believes in child sacrifices.

Some fans believe that the series might take an even darker turn in the upcoming episodes. One fan theory shared on Reddit suggests that there might be more to Emma's actions than just her deteriorating mental health.

Remember the boat carrying immigrants to America in the first episode? What if among those hopeful souls was a changeling? For those unfamiliar, a changeling is a fairy child left in place of a human baby, which the fairies steal. This particular changeling, using a magical facade, might have managed to live its life appearing entirely human.

This changeling didn't just blend in; it started a family, unknowingly passing down its unique genes. Fast forward to the present, and Apollo's child might be a direct descendant of that very changeling.

The big question is, from which side? Apollo's lineage seems the most likely, but his wife's ancestry can't be ruled out either.

Over generations, as changelings mingled with humans, a certain group took notice — The Wise One, a group of witches already introduced in the series.

They might be targeting changelings to exterminate them, harness their magical powers, or, even darker, they could be preying on vulnerable mothers to sacrifice innocent children.

The theory also suggests that Apollo might be changeling himself, or at least have the changeling genes. Well, we’ll have to wait to find out, but the theory is really intriguing.

Do you think this theory is plausible?
