The canceled show may be fans’ favorite, but definitely not the franchise’s one.

It’s been a couple of months since NCIS: Hawai’i was abruptly canceled for no solid reason, but all the talks about the unfortunate series have never quietened down ever since.

Being a CBS fan-favorite show that never had a single problem with its ratings, NCIS: Hawai’i was not only unfairly scrapped by the network, but also deprived of a good ending and instead got nothing but a major cliffhanger, leaving fans forever wonder what it would bring to the next never-happening season.

While some of the most devoted fans still keep trying to bring their beloved show back to the screen by calling CBS out on social media and starting a whole campaign with a petition to sign, NCIS: Hawai’i is likely to end up just like this with low chances to ever be revived, and the show’s fate seems even more heartbreaking than the one of another NCIS ditched spinoff.

Unlike its younger fellow series, NCIS: Los Angeles indeed had a long and good run as it was launched back in 2009 and ended in 2023 after 14 seasons. Despite already being the franchise’s vet for a long time, the series was supposed to go further, but eventually was canceled due to budget cuts, the same reason that allegedly doomed NCIS: Hawai’i’s future on TV.

Just like the latter, NCIS: Los Angeles cancellation appeared to be an utter shock for everyone involved in the show and for fans as well. However, the biggest difference between these two is that despite the unexpected news, NCIS: Los Angeles somehow got a decent ending, even though it was still heavily criticized by many viewers who found it even more harmful than the entire plot just left in the air.

In the meantime, NCIS: Hawai’i wasn’t granted with such an opportunity and was scrapped with a big cliffhanger in the season 3 finale that probably will never receive an explanation.

However bad things may look for NCIS: Hawai’i, some of its characters still have chances to not vanish entirely should the original show opt for one of them to replace Jessica Knight in season 22.

So far, the spinoff has a whole variety of candidates worthy of Knight’s position at the MCRT, but it’s still not clear whether NCIS will be abandoned by Jessica Knight or not, so NCIS: Hawai’i characters’ future is also very obscure.
