The news of Chadwick Boseman, the actor behind T’Challa, passing away in 2020 broke many hearts. However, the Wakanda story he started needs to go on.

Angela Bassett, who portrayed T’Challa and Shuri’s mother Ramonda, said that the ‘Black Panther’ sequel ‘Wakanda Forever ’ is going to be even better than the original movie.

During her recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bassett said that ‘Wakanda Forever’ will top the first ‘Black Panther’ to honor the memory of Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away in 2020 after battling cancer.

And while Marvel bosses opted for making Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, the central protagonist, some fans argued that they were better off recasting T’Challa to better honor Boseman’s legacy.

This particular debate is far from being over.

Some fans believe that Marvel will be able to live up to the ambition voiced by Bassett.

Others are not that sure.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is set to be released in November 2022. It will certainly face a challenge to “top” the original movie, as the first ‘Black Panther’ was credited as one of the most groundbreaking Marvel films.
