British actor Andy Serkis is known for his long association with Peter Jackson, playing the prominent role of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the first film in The Hobbit trilogy.

It's been nine years since he last appeared in an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's works, and it looks like the actor would love to get back to the film adaptations. But only if certain people work on them.

Serkis gained widespread fame for his role as Gollum, a hobbit corrupted by the darkness of the Ring forged by Sauron.

The actor performed, while the character was created using motion capture and CGI in one of the first successful applications of these technologies.

The only time Andy Serkis appears in a more "human" form is in the flashback to a hobbit named Sméagol becoming a creature named Gollum.

This time it looks like Warner Bros. is going to compete with Disney by creating its own equivalent to the MCU universe. The company, in partnership with New Line Cinema, has announced plans for new movies in the franchise.

Whether these will be remakes of the Jackson films or completely new stories, original or based on other Tolkien books and diaries, is not yet known.

On this occasion, Serkis had a conversation with BroBible, in which he shared his feelings about being involved in the beloved adaptations, as well as his thoughts on the upcoming movies.

"Look, [producers] Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens are sort of a second family that I have become part of and have gone on to make so many films with. And — let me tell you — they are the best and most incredible people to work with.

I think that there are so many other potential Middle-Earth projects which could come about, and if they're doing them, I would, of course, jump at the chance to have that relationship rekindled… Middle-Earth has never left me," the actor said.

Serkis speaks warmly of the crew and producers who made the film adaptations, and he clearly has a sense of nostalgia.

Except that he's only willing to work on new movies if the creators of the original trilogy and The Hobbit adaptations take over.

Not surprisingly, as Amazon's adaptation of The Silmarillion, The Rings of Power, received mixed reviews from fans of the legendary fantasy book.

The actor has a wide variety of roles, so it is not yet known if he will return as the deceitful Gollum/Sméagol or play someone else.
