There was something else that Chuck Lorre wanted to tell us at the end of the series, but fortunately decided not to.

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows that has proven to have it all: the perfect cast, lots of complex storylines, and most importantly – the great finale.

That last part of the list sometimes leaves fans disappointed, so it was important for the showrunners to create an ending that would only make fans happier.

And they successfully completed the task. The scene where Sheldon and Amy accept the Nobel Prize, and Sheldon gives his iconic acceptance speech to his friends is just heart melting.

But what happened after that is actually the most important part of the show's ending.

The creators of The Big Bang Theory decided that their show didn't need a full stop at the end, it needed a little comma to hint at the next big thing.

After returning from Stockholm, the Pasadena gang just went back to their old ways.

It seemed as if nothing had changed, when in fact they had entered new chapters in their personal and professional lives.

They were just sitting around their little table in apartment 4A eating Chinese takeout. And the soft version of the theme song was playing in the background. The image was perfect and so familiar!

But as it turned out, there was another idea that could have given us a different ending, cheaper than this one, but the one that made sense in the bigger picture.

Producers Steve Holland and Steve Molaro revealed in Jessica Radloff's book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, that Chuck Lorre always dreamed that the final shot of the show would be about the elevator finally being fixed.

Actually, this idea does not seem so strange, since the elevator was a big part of the narrative from the beginning of the show.

But fortunately, Lorre realized that it would be better to fix the elevator earlier in the two-part finale.

So he decided to go another way, giving us the warm image of our beloved gang eating together, as they did for all 279 episodes of the show.

And honestly? Best decision ever.
