All the Exciting Easter Eggs in the Rick and Morty Season 7 Trailer, Ranked
Mr. Poopybutthole doesn’t seem to be doing so well.
The Rick and Morty season 7 trailer has been released, teasing various storylines, including new ones like the zombie invasion, and reminiscing about the old favorites. The trailer also signaled a major shift — the show would be moving forward without the original voice work of Justin Roiland.
The season 7 trailer also portrays Rick Sanchez as being less obsessed and more sardonic about his pursuit of Rick Prime, suggesting a possible change in the character's demeanor. This might make the outcome less dark than the previous one.
In this season, we will see the all-time favorite characters that have been missing from the show for a very long time, including Squanchy, whose last appearance was in the season 2 finale, and Mr. Poopybutthole, who doesn't seem to be doing so well this time around.
The upcoming season also promises a new Morty's Mind Blowers episode and the possibility of another canon episode that delves into Rick and Birdperson's past. Here are all the Easter eggs, hidden in the trailer.
4. Morty’s Mind Blowers
Season 3's Morty's Mind Blowers remains one of the show's best episodes, as it delves deep into Rick's secret chamber under the garage where he hides Morty's psychedelic memories. We witness Morty's various experiences, including traumatic moments and Rick's attempts to shield him from harsh realities.
In a fleeting scene from the season 7 trailer, Summer is seen in Morty's Mind Blowers room dealing with a pile of destroyed memories, possibly suggesting that the duo's memory wipes can cause them to forget even the basic concepts.
3. Mr. Poopybutthole
We also get a glimpse of Mr. Poopybutthole's situation in Rick and Morty season 7’s first episode, titled How Poopy Got His Poop Back. The trailer shows Mr. Poopybutthole drowning his sorrows in alcohol while Rick gathers his friends for a party, presumably to help Mr. Poopybutthole.
The new season suggests that Mr. Poopybutthole's unfortunate circumstances, which are the result of his interactions with the Smith family throughout the series, including a job loss, family problems, and leg injuries, will finally help turn his life around.
2. Major Characters’ Return
The season 7 trailer hints at the return of Rick's other old friends such as Birdperson, Gearhead, and Squanchy, the characters who have been absent or barely mentioned since the previous seasons. What this means is a possible reunion or adventures in an alternate universe.
The trailer also teases potential storylines related to previous episodes and crises that require Rick's help, with the return of prominent characters such as Dr. Wong, the President, and Space Beth.
1. New Voices
Despite speculation and rumors about the famous actors possibly replacing Roiland, the trailer confirms that the new voices of Rick and Morty are very similar to the originals, but the identities of the new actors are kept secret.
The season 7 trailer also includes a scene where Rick forgets who he is, which could be a meta-joke referencing the show's voice actor changes.
Rick and Morty season 7 premieres next Sunday, October 15, on Adult Swim in the U.S.
