All NCIS Stars Mark Harmon Ever Had a Feud With
This may be the messiest production in decades.
Even though Mark Harmon is considered the heart and soul of NCIS, as it is impossible to imagine the show running for so long without the charismatic father figure of Gibbs, that does not mean the actor did not have his fair share of struggles while working on the show.
In fact, according to some of his former co-stars, Harmon was a reason for many behind-the-scenes clashes.
Regardless of whose side you take in these feuds, it's always interesting to check out the drama that occurred during the filming of your favorite show. So, if you are curious about all the conflicts that took place, here are 3 stories shared by former NCIS stars.
Donald P. Bellisario
It is hard to imagine the circumstances that would cause the show's creator and mastermind behind the story to leave in the middle of production. Although Bellisario's impact on the show will never be forgotten, he left in 2007.
Though it was long rumored that the creator's departure had to do with the demands of the show's star, it was later confirmed. Bellisario's chaotic approach to the show didn't sit well with Harmon, and the relationship between him and the showrunner became strained.
In a feature on the show for The Hollywood Reporter, NCIS co-creator Don McGill called the conflict ‘classic Hollywood creative differences’.
Michael Weatherly
The actor, who will now return to the NCIS universe as Tony DiNozzo in his own spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, also opened up about some of the clashes he and Mark Harmon had on the set of the show.
“Mark Harmon and I were on different poles. I was Antarctica, he was the North Pole and we were just looking down there going, 'What is up with your polarity? What's going on? The water goes down the drain the other way for me,'” Weatherly told The Futon Critic.
Though Michael Weatherly was determined enough to continue his work and stay with NCIS before leaving to lead another show, Bull, the first few years of working with Harmon must have been tough.
Pauley Perrette
Another person who was practically driven from set because of Mark Harmon’s antics was a fan-favorite Pauley Perrette. Portraying NCIS Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto for 15 years, the actress bid her farewell to the show because of Harmon’s dog, which was brought on set.
“There was an incident with the show with a dog. The dog was Harmon’s, and apparently the dog bit someone. Pauley was a huge, huge SPCA [Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals] animal person. And then the dog kept coming with Harmon, and she felt it wasn’t safe for the show,” the EP Charles Floyd Johnson explained.
