All Friends Christmas Episodes Ranked From Okay To Iconic
Nothing’s better than the cozy atmosphere the holidays bring to the show.
Holiday episodes of our favorite shows are always the most anticipated. It's always great to see the beloved characters busy with preparations and party planning. And Friends gave us plenty of those episodes.
The show's creators put extra effort into writing holiday episodes. And now is the best time to rewatch all the Christmas episodes of the show. Let’s see what we got here!
10. The One With No Christmas Episode — Season 10
So let’s move on!
9. Christmas in Tulsa — Season 9
This could have been a great Christmas episode, but unfortunately it followed one of the worst sitcom tropes ever and thus ends up at the bottom of the list. With Chandler stuck in Tulsa for the holidays instead of being with his wife and friends, the creators decided to show us clips from earlier episodes, and that's the most hated thing ever.
8. The No-Date Pact — Season 1
This is not actually a Christmas episode, but is a New Years eve one, but we are still counting it. It’s the show’s first attempt at a holiday episode and while it has a nice tree and cozy atmosphere it also features the Monkey, Ross’ pet for a handful of episodes. And that’s probably the worst arc that was in the show. Still, the episode gave us the “no-date” pact, which was ruined in the funniest way.
7. The One With The Inappropriate Card — Season 8
This episode was actually quite fun, although a little (or a lot – you decide) awkward. Ross wanted to move forward in his relationship with Mona, but ended up freaking out when she suggested they do a joint Christmas card.
6. Monica, Ross and the Routine — Season 6
This episode shows Monica, Ross, Joey and his new roommate participating in a TV show that has been the Gellers' dream since childhood. They do their "routine" there, and frankly, the storyline is hilarious.
Like the one where Phoebe and Rachel tried to find Monica's Christmas gifts that she hides perfectly every year so they couldn’t find them, and the one with the two-sided tree.
5. Meet Street Phoebe — Season 5
This Christmas episode is pretty funny, as it follows Phoebe’s new occupation as a street fundraiser who rings the bell in a holiday costume, but ends up facing people’s dark nature as they throw garbage to her kettle instead of money.
4. All The Christmas Trees — Season 3
This Christmas episode is actually famous for Rachel quitting her job at Central Perk to follow her dreams. But there is also a big holiday part that involves Phoebe and Joey.
When Joey gets a job at a tree market, Phoebe realizes that the old ones that are already dry and not worthy are being destroyed. And well, Phoebe wouldn't be herself if she didn't try to stop that. In the end, Joey brought home all the old trees to help them "fulfill their purpose," which made their friend very happy.
3. The One Where Nothing Rhymes With Chandler — Season 4
The episode follows many funny plots, including Ross being torn up trying to decide who to date: the girl who lives nearby or the better one from... Poughkeepsie. But the best part is of course Phoebe's iconic Christmas song that she wrote for her friends. Unfortunately, Rachel and Chandler ended up with no rhyme in the song, but we still enjoyed it.
2. The One With the Maccabees — Season 7
One of our favorite episodes of the entire show. It featured Ross forcing some history on Ben. Being Jewish, he really wanted to teach his son about Hanukkah, but there was always something distracting him: first Chandler in a Santa costume, then Joey in a Superman costume. Finally, they used a group effort to tell Ben the whole story and even got him interested in his ancestors.
1. The One With Phoebe’s Dad — Season 2
Plot-wise, it was a very important episode because it follows Phoebe finally finding out who her real father was. The episode also features the funniest party there ever was in the show — the tropical Christmas party that happened because Ross accidentally broke the radiator knob and no one knew how to fix it.
Surprisingly, after the party is over and Phoebe is back with the guys, it was Joey who figured out how to deal with the problem.
