All 9 New Star Wars Movies and Shows Confirmed to Release in 2024 & Beyond

1. Star Wars: Tales of the Empire (May 4, 2024)

On Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you), Disney+ drops this highly anticipated six-part animated series. It's a companion piece to 2022's Tales of the Jedi – while that series focused on two Jedi of the prequel era, this new series will zero in on the dark side of The Force. Expect cameos from characters like General Grievous and Darth Vader.

2. Star Wars: The Acolyte ( June 4, 2024)

It will be refreshing to get a Star Wars series that doesn't revolve around (or reference, or cameo) any famous character. Instead, The Acolyte is a murder mystery series that takes place two centuries before the events of the prequels. Jedi Master Sol (Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae) investigates a series of mysterious deaths among his Jedi colleagues, alongside his former Padawan Mae (Amandla Stenberg, Bodies Bodies Bodies).

3. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (2024)

After making a big discovery on their home planet, four kids become lost in a galaxy far, far away. Now, they must try to find their way home again.

Jude Law stars in this live-action series aimed at young adults. Because it takes place in the same time period as The Mandalorian, we can probably expect some cameos – and a lot of references to the various other series.

4. Star Wars: Andor, Season 2 (2025)

After a glut of lackluster Star Wars content, Andor surprised audiences by being… well, awesome. It carries a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics and audiences loving the fact that it feels less like another Star Wars spinoff and more like an intricate, high-stakes spy drama.

The series follows Cassian Andor, a former thief turned rebel spy, in the years leading up to the events of Rogue One.

5. Star Wars: Ahsoka, Season 2 (2026)

Ahsoka got a more lukewarm reception than Andor, but it was still popular enough to merit a second season. Rosario Dawson plays the title character, a Jedi knight who discovers a threat to the new Republic and must fight along with her former apprentice, ​​Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.

6. The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie (May 22, 2026)

By the time The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie hits theatres, it will have been 7 years since the television show premiered. That speaks to the staying power of Pedro Pascal 's titular Mandalorian, the adorableness of Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), and the enduring appeal of that green helmet.

Jon Favreau (Iron Man) is set to direct the movie, though details are still scarce.

7. Taika Waititi 's Star Wars Movie (In Development)

It's kind of amazing that it's taken this long to pull kiwi director Taika Waititi into the Star Wars universe – he took the MCU by storm and has had his fingers in any number of Hollywood pies since then.

As is his habit, Waititi will also have a hand in writing the script for this project. The movie was confirmed way back in 2020, so fans have been impatiently waiting for updates. Unfortunately, Waititi's busy schedule and delays with the screenplay mean that we might be waiting a little longer.

8. Dawn of the Jedi Movie (In Development)

James Mangold (Logan) is directing this ambitious new movie, set 25,000 years before the events of the original trilogy. Here we will learn about the origins of the Jedi, and the story of the very first Jedi Knights.

Beau Willimon (Andor) is the lead writer for the screenplay, a good sign for fans.

9. New Jedi Order Movie (In Development)

It's been 15 years since the events of The Rise of Skywalker, and Rey is now attempting to rebuild the Jedi order.

Details are sparse for this upcoming project, which is likely many years off. However, we do know that Daisy Ridley will return as Rey, and that directing duties are being undertaken by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms Marvel).
