Don't worry, you probably wouldn't want to see it either.

Considering how many actors and actresses talk about how uncomfortable intimacy on set really is, it's a wonder that so many of them actually turn out to be at least somewhat sensual.

Because so few of the sex scenes have any real impact on the plot, a good half of them feel unnecessary. However, sex sells, and Hollywood producers know this like no other.

It is unusual in the industry to remove a sex scene from the script rather than include it.

Ridley Scott 's Alien, however, stands out as an example of a movie that protected its quality more than it protected its box office.

There was supposed to be a raunchy scene that had to be cut later because it felt too unnatural and weird.

It's no secret that there's a lot of tension between Ellen Ripley and Dallas throughout the movie.

Although it's not confirmed in the final cut, viewers can see a possible romantic interest involved in their relationship, which makes the dynamic even more different.

Portrayed by Sigourney Weaver and Tom Skerritt, the characters have an amazing chemistry, but it could have easily been ruined by Ripley's rather heavy-handed approach to Dallas.

Whether or not Dallas really needed to be "rescued," today's audiences would not appreciate the sentiment as much and could have rightly interpreted it as a non-consensual encounter.

While some viewers may be disappointed that they didn't get to see the tension between Ripley and Dallas develop into something more, it was ultimately a wise decision to cut the scene altogether.

This way the movie can remain relevant and unproblematic as a part of pop culture to this day.

Besides, Alien did not need to show any skin to do well at the box office. The movie managed to make $82 million domestically and another $24 million internationally.

With a total of $106 million, it was able to exceed its own budget almost tenfold, which is considered a huge success.
