Ahsoka Steps On The Same Annoying Rake That Obi-Wan Kenobi Did

The first two episodes of the Ahsoka TV series have finally been released, and it seems that the series is living up to the fans' expectations, at least for now.

However, this doesn't mean that the show is completely flawless, as the very first episode stepped on the same annoying rake that another recent Star Wars TV series did.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series has been criticized for many reasons, some of which were extremely... questionable, to say the least, moments that the show featured.

Arguably two of the most baffling scenes were when both the Grand Inquisitor, portrayed by Rupert Friend, and Reva, played by Moses Ingram, easily survived being stabbed directly in the guts by lightsabers.

While the Grand Inquisitor may have received off-screen medical attention, Reva simply walked away from such a serious injury and immediately made her way to Tatooine to kill Luke Skywalker.

For comparison, the same direct stab proved fatal to Qui-Gon Jinn during his duel with Darth Maul at the end of Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace.

Apparently, the creators didn't learn that particular lesson about how deadly lightsabers really are, because at the end of Ahsoka's debut episode, Sabine Wren, portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, receives the exact same blow from Ivanna Sakhno's Shin Hati.

Though in this case she was hit more to the side of her body than directly in the middle, the fact that she not only survived but recovered in a very short time (albeit with medical help) seems completely bizarre and, frankly, stupid.

The lightsaber fights in the show are looking great so far, so it is disappointing that this completely unnecessary scene spoiled the overall impression of these fights.

Hopefully one day the modern Star Wars creators will learn to treat the deadly "elegant weapon for a more civilized age" with the respect it deserves, otherwise the lightsaber duels lose half of their intensity without a high price to pay for losing.
