The contents of the mysterious crates loaded onto his Star Destroyer may be quite horrifying.

The seventh episode of the Ahsoka TV series has finally been released, and while it moved the story forward (though not as much as some fans would have liked), it still left one of the show's biggest questions unanswered for now.

Since Grand Admiral Thrawn entered the scene in episode six, he has merely been following his mysterious plan and preparing to leave the planet Peridea, with no clear indication of what he actually intends to do next.

However, some subtle details may indicate that the upcoming final episode of the series, in which Thrawn's plan will undoubtedly come to fruition, may take the series into borderline horror-movie territory.

For two episodes now, the Grand Admiral's forces have been loading mysterious crates, suspiciously shaped like coffins, aboard his Star Destroyer.

Considering that they were mentioned in episode 6 as coming from the catacombs beneath the Nightsister Temple, the implication that he may be preparing an army of the undead becomes even clearer.

The concept of zombies is not new to Star Wars, as there are even different kinds of them.

In the Legends canon, living corpses brought back from the dead by Sith alchemy served as guardians of the Valley of the Dark Lords, an ancient Sith resting place on the planet Korriban.

There were also more "grounded" zombies, similar to those in The Walking Dead franchise, reanimated by a virus known as Imperial bioweapons Project I71A, featured in the novel Death Troopers and its prequel, Red Harvest.

Zombies are also part of the current Star Wars canon, which makes this theory about Ahsoka's TV series even more plausible.

The Nightsisters of Dathomir, who are an important part of the show's plot, are also capable of raising the dead using their "magic," as has been shown in various Star Wars franchise projects, most notably The Clone Wars animated series and the Jedi: Fallen Order video game.

With all this in mind, Thrawn may be preparing an army of undead soldiers to unleash on the unsuspecting New Republic, and we may see it in the next and final episode of the series.

Ahsoka episode 8 will be released on October 3, 2023.

Do you find the undead theory plausible?
