It's common for Marvel characters to come back from the dead, and it's possible that it's time for an iconic character to return to the big screen.

Phil Coulson was the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and served as one of the organization's top operatives prior to his appointment.

Coulson served as Fury's "right-hand man" on many important missions, and was tasked with overseeing Fury's Avengers Initiative and acting as its chief operative.

He was also responsible for intervention and tactical operations in Puente Antiguo, New Mexico, as part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s investigation into the Thor and Destroyer incident.

Agent Coulson was killed by Loki, and his death gave the Avengers the impetus they needed to unite.

After dying on the big screen, he moved to the small screen – Coulson became the main character in the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which received good reviews from both critics and viewers. The show ran for seven seasons, during which Phil Coulson became a favorite of many viewers who are still waiting for him to return to bigger projects.

In a recent interview, actor Clark Gregg, who played Agent Coulson, gave a reassuring answer to the question of whether he might return to the big MCU:

“There’s always a chance. There’s just always a chance that- I mean, you know, it’s a multiverse.”

Clark Gregg also confirmed that he had heard fan speculation that his character would appear in Secret Invasion, but did not give any specific information, which only warmed up the interest of the fans.

In 2020 it became known that the studio launched a separate project about the adventures of Nick Fury, in the format of a miniseries for Disney Plus, starring Samuel L. Jackson.

According to the plot, the story develops around the Skrull metamorphic aliens, and the action takes place after the events of the Civil War, when the superheroes are still divided.

At this time, the Skrulls, thanks to the ability to change their appearance, are secretly infiltrating every superhero organization on Earth and preparing for a full-scale invasion. The series will premiere on June 21, 2023.
