After 10 Years of Box Office Misery, Adam Sandler's Flop Suddenly Blows Up Netflix Top

Though Adam Sandler’s romcoms didn’t have their best time in the box office and often ended up being a total flop, the actor’s critically failed, yet still iconic movies are definitely having their prime after being released on the platforms.

Following 50 First Dates that got another wave of fame earlier this year, Sandler’s other collaboration with Drew Barrymore is currently dominating Netflix.

Blended was released back in 2014 and marked Sandler and Barrymore’s third collaborative movie after they both starred in the 1998 romcom The Wedding Singer and 2004 movie 50 First Dates. Having quite successful predecessors, Blended surely counted on the same audience’s reaction as two first movies received upon their release, but instead it turned out to be quite a big disappointment.

Though the film eventually grossed almost $130 million against the initial budget of $45 million, it was entirely crushed by critics, ending up with a miserable score of only 15% on Rotten Tomatoes.

On top of that, Blended was later on heavily criticized for a stereotypical representation of African communities as the plot follows two single parents who accidentally take their children to the same African safari resort.

The whole situation gets even more complex given that the parents, Jim and Lauren portrayed by Sandler and Barrymore respectively, had had quite a bad date before and once again accidentally had swapped their credit cards which had eventually made them meet against their will.

Encountering in Africa, both then get into a very weird community which makes them stick together despite their mutual despise.

Apart from all the backlash that Blended received back in 2014, Netflix's viewers prove once again that not everything is about the industry’s professionals and many are actually enjoying the movie, now that it’s available for streaming after many years of being considered a flop.
