Adult Sheldon Narrating Young Sheldon Doesn’t Make Any Sense At This Point
Unless fans are up for a crazy twist at the series finale.
If there's one thing that initially drew a lot of people to Young Sheldon, it's Jim Parsons narrating everything that happens on the show. Not only did this decision allow people to transition to the prequel without losing The Big Bang Theory 's favorite talent, but it also tied the two stories together perfectly.
However, with six seasons already on the air and a seventh on the way, the decision seems more and more questionable to fans.
No matter how much people love to hear the soothing voice of Parsons, it just doesn't make sense for Sheldon to recount the events that he never knew happened and were not a part of him.
One could argue that he has been told about everything by various people and that his perfect memory allows him to recall everything down to the smallest detail.
Others believe that this could hint at an interesting twist or reveal at the end of the show and build whole theories around it.
As all the differences between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory's original canon have already established, Sheldon Cooper isn't a particularly reliable narrator.
Of course, the audience won't know for sure until it's proven in a script, but many believe that this story is being told by Sheldon for his autobiography book, an interview, or a podcast, and he makes a lot of changes along the way to spice it up.
This would explain why he takes it upon himself to tell stories about other people around him, even if he wasn't there for them.
Whether or not this theory is true, we'll have to wait and see. Although it hasn't been confirmed, many believe that season 7 will be Young Sheldon's last. However, with both the writers' and actors' strikes still ongoing in Los Angeles, production and release details remain uncertain.
Until we know exactly how and when the story of Sheldon Cooper's childhood will end, you can have a rewatching marathon by streaming Young Sheldon from the beginning on Netflix, MAX or fuboTV.
