As it turns out, 2016's Passengers, directed by Morten Tyldum, was not the experience she imagined it would be. In fact, she ended up not liking her own performance either, simply because of how not engaged she felt.

“Adele told me not to do it! She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies. <...> Everything was like a rebound effect. I was reacting, rather than just acting,” she said.

While Lawrence probably doesn't regret the paycheck she received from the film, it's likely she'll listen to Adele's advice next time. Although The Passenger was considered a commercial success, grossing around $300 million against a budget of $150 million, it received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

2016's Passengers sits on Rotten Tomatoes with a critics' score of just 30%, which is only slightly offset by an audience score of 63%. Most of the criticism isn't directed at the actress' performance, but rather the weaknesses of the writing and the slight creepiness of the initial premise.

The inner feeling the actress had about the role definitely checks out with a mediocre result. The promising premise, the futuristic setting and a talented co-star couldn't prevent Passengers from becoming one of the worst movies in Jennifer Lawrence's otherwise great filmography.
