A World-Famous Designer Once Said Adele Was 'Too Fat': Look At Her Now
Back in 2021, Adele dropped her long-awaited album 30 and 100th pound, making everyone talk about her new look.
Adele's impressive voice and career is not the only topic of headlines and table talk discussions for the past three years. The 34-year-old singer shook her fans and haters with her 100-pound weight loss. The singer told British Vogue that she lost weight and adopted a healthier lifestyle for herself and "not anyone else."
However, to some fans it might seem that the star succumbed to the numerous criticism about her looks and weight that followed Adele since she became famous back in 2008.
One of the people criticizing Adele's appearance was a world-famous designer, Karl Lagerfeld, who once told Metro (via The Guardian):
"She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."
And though the designer tried to apologize later, such a comment from a fashion icon couldn't fail to affect the singer. Besides, Lagerfeld later undid his apologies by saying his fat comment actually helped Adele since she had lost some weight.
It is unclear if Adele's weight loss was triggered by the comments like the one Lagerfeld made. The singer always put on a brave face when it came to criticism. But something in her life (maybe divorce from her husband Simon Konecki), made the singer start her victorious weight-loss journey in 2019. The general public saw the first results at the end of 2019 when the photos from Drake's 33rd birthday party featuring Adele's slimmed figure appeared all over the internet. Adele's own post read: "I used to cry but now I sweat."
An even more inspiring photo was published on the singer's Instagram in May 2020 for her 32nd birthday. Though the star addressed the COVID-19 pandemic in the post wishing all her followers to "stay safe and sane," the singer herself looked as if she was one of those people who enjoyed the pandemic break and made the best of it.
The singer opened up about her new lifestyle in many interviews since then and inspired many people. The latest post features the singer as fit and beautiful as ever.
It's too bad Karl Lagerfeld died of pancreatic cancer in February 2019, as we will never hear his comments about Adele's transformed body.
