Evil Dead Rise, the fifth feature-length movie in the Evil Dead franchise, is going to hit the theatres on April 21.

However, it has already been shown at SXSW a few days ago.

That premiere puts anyone who is not cautious whil browsing the net at the risk of getting spoilered. And it also was accompanied by an unsightly incident.

After sitting through the movie and the post-screening Q&A – or, to be more precise, sleeping through a good part of them – one spectator had expressed his opinion about the movie quite rudely.

South by Southwest venue staff had to approach him after he fell asleep with his legs propped up. Upon being woken up, he first yelled something unintelligible.

As the room went silent, people trying to figure out what's going on, he shouted, "This movie f***ing sucks! " and threw an empty bucket of popcorn into the air, before storming out. You can see the video of the incident here.

While the audience booed the heckler, the reaction of the original Evil Dead star and current executive producer Bruce Campbell was not especially professional:

"What are you doing here? Get the fuck out of here!"

The producer Rob Tapert also added:

"I don't get it. He waited all the way through the credits!"

The heckler's identity is unknown, and the rest of the audience had reacted to the movie very positively.

But then again, it is rather strange to find even one heckler at the premiere aimed at dedicated fans of a long-running franchise, so some people suspect that that incident might have been staged.

Then again, stranger coincidences had happened.

In any case, the general audience has only a bit more than a month to wait, before judging whether Evil Dead Rise is actually sleep-inducing.

One thing can be said about it without spoiling any details: the movie was originally set for a streaming-only release on HBO Max, before getting switched to a theatrical release, and as it seems, you can tell from its looks that it was initially meant to be streaming-only.

Then again, all the old fans of Evil Dead are used to cheap-looking movies.
