It's totally natural for the show about the past times to explore the past even further.

That is exactly the case with the new spinoff, or rather a prequel, to Stranger Things, a miniseries of 4 comic books exploring the backstory of one of the series' most notorious characters, Dr. Martin Brenner.

In a recent article ScreenRant shared an exclusive look at the new miniseries called Stranger Things: The Many Ghosts of Dr. Brenner, which is set to reveal the story of Eleven's villainous 'Papa'. The four-issue miniseries comes from writer Brenden Fletcher and artist Mack Chater and will dive deeper into the history of the man who orchestrated most of the awful events in the original series. Here is the synopsis: The year is 1968. Dr. Martin Brenner, a disgraced American scientist, returns to the abandoned lab where he and his colleagues collected research for top-secret government projects. But Brenner's unfinished business in his old lab isn't the only thing haunting him: a ghostly face from his past seems to be following his every step.

Stranger Things Season 2 Original Ending Was Much Darker

The first issue is set to release on January 11th, 2023. And it may be an answer to a bigger and probably more interesting question about the life of Stranger Things after the series wraps up next season. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has claimed before that Stranger Things spinoffs are inevitability once the show ends with season 5.

We have very little information about the possible spinoff from the series creators Matt and Ross Duffer During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. When asked about the details, Duffer brothers could only promise that the spinoff will be "1000% different" from Stranger Things. Here is exactly what they said:

"I've read these rumors that there's gonna be an Eleven spinoff, that there's gonna be a Steve and Dustin spinoff or that it's another number. That's not interesting to me because we've done all that. We've spent I don't know how many hours exploring all of that. So it's very different."

Can the mini-series be a hint about what the actual television spinoff is about? If so, we are even more excited to read it. But as always in the case of Stranger Things, it is always wise to expect an even bigger surprise.
