NCIS’ frequently snubbed parent series might have a chance to get itself a bigger audience.

NCIS has always been considered a starting point for the whole franchise that now counts several spinoffs set to come back or arrive to the screens for the first time, but everyone seems to have forgotten that the show isn’t actually as original as it is thought to be.

Some newcomers in NCIS’ fandom might now know this yet, but the beloved police procedural drama got a chance to expand itself and later on its universe thanks to another series — and it has just been added on Prime Video for everyone who ever wanted to check it out.

Having started this whole US Navy theme that years later went viral with NCIS, JAG came around much earlier than its spinoff and initially was launched back in 1995.

The show follows an elite wing of officers trained as lawyers, with before-pilot-now-lawyer Navy Commander Harmon "Harm" Rabb and Marine Lieutenant Colonel Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie in the head of those whose daily life consists of investigating and defending people accused of crimes in the military.

The series about Judge Advocate General's office where NCIS actually started had a long run of 10 seasons before it was canceled due to average ratings in 2005, but NCIS was already there to take all of the viewers’ attention.

Now that NCIS’ fans still have to endure several months of wait until the show’s season 22 finally hits CBS later this year, JAG’s drop on Amazon Prime does look like an opportunity for the forgotten show to finally get noticed by those who have never considered it a real start of NCIS back in 2003.

JAG has been available for streaming on Prime since July 1. Meanwhile, NCIS’ all seasons can now be streamed on fuboTV and Apple TV+. The show’s season 22 is set to be aired on CBS this fall.
