A Dark Way Andor Stands Out Among Other Star Wars Projects

Star Wars fans seem to be getting accustomed to the way Andor expands the borders of the beloved universe by setting a grimmer tone and exploring topics that would usually be avoided in other projects. But there is one stark difference between Andor and other Star Wars media that seems to fascinate people.

It is the way Andor appears to handle deaths in the show. Five episodes into the story, there has already been a handful of them, and the way they impact the events appears to be different from what the Star Wars universe has been offering so far.

"We see the death of Timm – who I expect more than a few of us wanted to die – but we feel his death through Bixx, someone who is far more endearing, she's broken over it. We see how the Corporate security reacts when they hear their men are down and later when the car explodes. They don't even try to pursue Cassian, the Sergeant is focused on calling for help for his men to try to save who he can," Reddit user pezboy74 noted.

The mere fact of the show kicking the story off with not just a death but a murder committed by the main character is also speaking volumes. Cassian appears to be "trapped in his decision" — although some fans already wish the series had shown "more of a direct effect on him".

But the main thing is how Star Wars characters appear to be facing the consequences of their actions, and these consequences are way more realistic than they used to be in the franchise.

Still, there is space for perfecting the universe even further, fans argue.

"[I]'d like it if they take it one step further when it comes to how they treat property and collateral damage, as not being something that just gets magically sorted out as a minor issue, even if all the shooty-explody stuff happened in a densely populated area," Redditor WanderlostNomad suggested.
