911 Needs To Pull The Trigger On This Character Before He Becomes Pointless
There is some hope that ABC brings fans what they want.
While the move from FOX to ABC may feel sudden to someone who hasn't been following 911 closely for the past year, more dedicated fans have seen it coming.
Some of them are still afraid of change, claiming that a new network may come with new rules and force new members on the show's creative team.
Others, however, believe that some fresh air will be good for 911 in the long run. If that long run is even on the table.
One of the things fans are begging for, and willing to keep begging whoever is in charge, is some character development for Eddie.
When he was introduced to the new team in the first season, he was incredibly intriguing and interesting to watch. However, at some point his storyline just stopped...and then went into a loop.
The majority of the fanbase agrees that Eddie checks all the boxes for a closeted LGBTQ+ character who hasn't had time to figure himself out because he's focused on his special needs son.
They're not living off their delusions, though.
While this idea remains as a popular headcanon that could have been explored for 6 seasons if the showrunners had any intention of going that route, the reality is that Eddie is stuck in a terrible cycle of unsuccessful dating for all the wrong reasons.
Once a genuinely interesting character to watch, he has slowly been reduced to a dull shadow of his former self.
He has no friends other than his co-workers, and goes on dates only to find his son Christopher as a replacement for the mother figure he lost, or because someone else set up the date.
The worst part is that the fans feel that 911 is trying to push a very strange idea of being happy only in relationships through him, and of course, it is not welcome at all.
With Marisol, one of the people he helped in the emergency, reappearing for the final spin of season 6, viewers can already predict the same exact thing they've seen too many times before.
However, this being his character's last storyline in the final season of 911 under FOX gives fans some hope and does not drag on into season 7.
Tune in to watch the 911 season 6 finale in real time on FOX on Monday, May 15.
