There might be space for one more.

One of the best things about 911 is the way the show leans heavily on the interpersonal relationships within the group. Sure, viewers love all the situations that the firefighters, cops, and paramedics get into, but it's the character development that makes them stick around.

Right now, LAFD Station 118 feels like a family to most viewers. And because of that, the show has to be especially careful about introducing new characters into the mix. Tommy, who appeared briefly in the past and then made his comeback in season 7, will have to prove himself before the fans fully accept him.

Will Tommy Be Back to 911 Season 8?

Although there is no confirmation that Tommy will return to 911 in season 8, fans have every right to expect it. However, people are wondering if his appearances will be as brief as they were in season 7, or if Lou Ferrigno Jr. will join the cast as a series regular.

As of now, fans will be fine with either option. On the one hand, the cast seems to be so full that they hardly have time to focus on anyone else, but on the other hand, it would be fun to explore more of Tommy and Buck's romance moving forward. One thing that keeps bothering viewers, though, is Tommy's past.

Season 7 was not Tommy’s first rodeo interacting with Station 118 members. The characters used to work at that station before, and made a few appearances in the ‘Begins’ episodes, which explore leads’ origin stories. To put it lightly, Tommy wasn’t the best to either Hen or Chimney.

“We've seen Tommy acknowledge that the 118 used to be toxic but not that he partook and used his benefits as a white male to make things easier for himself. I understand he's made amends to Hen and Chimney, but if it's never mentioned again <...> it'll feel like they're trying to erase Tommy's past actions,” Redditor Turbulent-Sun-545 noted.

Since we haven't seen or heard from him between the origin episodes and his reappearance, it's hard to say how long his character development arc has spanned. However, not addressing his past mistakes at all seems like a huge misstep by the writers, one that fans hope will be rectified in season 8.
