These shows deserve some love!

In 2023, Netflix released 7 great shows that got an unfairly cold reception or were ignored altogether. Let's hope some of them get renewed.

7. Obsession

Release Date: April 13, 2023

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 25%

Based on the novel Damage by Josephine Hart, Obsession follows a surgeon (Richard Armitage) who becomes a British politician. But an obsession comes into his life that threatens to derail his career: his son's fiancée, played by Charlie Murphy. The show tries too hard to resemble the erotic thrillers of the '80s and '90s, including the critically acclaimed first film adaptation of the 1992 book, but that doesn't make the plot any less intriguing.

6. Django

Release Date: February 17, 2023

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 40%

Sergio Corbucci's 1966 spaghetti western Django is one of the most influential films in the genre, spawning countless unofficial sequels and reruns, most notably Quentin Tarantino 's. This time, the Italian channel Sky Atlantic and the French Canal+ have tried to reinterpret the story.

Django, played by Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts, arrives in the city of New Babylon in search of his daughter Sarah (Lisa Vicari), but the latter does not want to see her father, as Django is always followed by a trail of blood.

The series has been criticized for its unoriginal script and unsuccessful imitation of the American accent, but it doesn't deserve such a low score, being a great story in the spirit of classic Westerns.

5. The Days

Release Date: June 1, 2023

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 50%

The Days is the Japanese take on the HBO hit Chernobyl, dramatizing the tragic events of the Fukushima nuclear accident, caused by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. As with Chernobyl, the story is told from the perspective of Japanese government officials and nuclear plant employees. The attempt to resemble the aforementioned series turned out to be a fatal mistake, as the judgments about the events prove to be too restrained and unrevealing. Nevertheless, the series provides a deep context, complemented by excellent cinematography.

4. Feedback

Release Date: November 15, 2023

Rotten Tomatoes Score (Audience): 71%

Feedback is about an alcoholic former rock star who ventures into the underbelly of Warsaw in search of his missing son. However, this is only the driving force of the plot, as the protagonist embarks on a dangerous journey of self-discovery. Feedback was not coldly received by critics, but it went completely unnoticed by them, even though ordinary viewers were thrilled by this outstanding Polish thriller.

3. Copenhagen Cowboy

Release Date: January 5, 2023

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 68%

Neo-noir master Nicolas Winding Refn has created a new supernatural thriller on Netflix, Copenhagen Cowboy. The plot centers on Miu, a young psychic who navigates Copenhagen's violent criminal underworld. Not all critics are fond of Refn's work, calling his new series pretentious because of its typical neon aesthetic, but that's exactly what audiences love, appreciating the improvement in the filmmaker's hypnotic style.

2. The Diplomat

Release Date: April 20, 2023

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 83%

The plot of this political thriller follows a new U.S. ambassador, played by Keri Russell, as she tries to navigate her personal life and the tensions caused by an international crisis. The downside of the series was its clichéd and slow pacing, but the Aaron Sorkin-inspired plot was appreciated.
