1. Bodies

Based on the 2015 graphic novel of the same name written by Si Spencer, this is a crime show with a difference. A body is discovered in Longharvest Lane, London in 2023, leading to a murder investigation. Then we find out the same thing happened in 1890 and 1941 – and again in 2053.

Four murder investigations in four different eras, but all in the same place. It's intriguing and will grip you from the start.

2. Florida Man

A comedy-drama that uses a pretty familiar storyline but does it really well. Struggling former police officer Mike Valentine heads back to Florida (his home state) where he tries to track down the girlfriend of a mob boss.

Pretty simple, right? But this is Netflix. Nothing's simple and Valentine soon finds he's mixed up in a world of secrets and lies. With each new twist, he's presented with a fresh dilemma. And he so wants to do the right thing. But, sometimes what's right and what's necessary are not the same.

3. Who is Erin Carter?

Initially, the answer to the question posed in the title of this show is that Erin Carter is just a regular school teacher living in Spain. She has a husband, a daughter and a very normal life. But then she's forced to defend herself when she happens to get mixed up in a robbery at a grocery store.

In doing so, Erin displays some combat skills not usually associated with a teacher. It turns out there's more to this wife and mother than meets the eye. Her idyllic life was a front and had been hiding a mysterious past. But her history is about to catch up with her.

4. Burning Body

When the body of a police officer is discovered in a burnt-out car, an investigation into how he came to be there gets underway. Loosely based on a true story of a love triangle in Barcelona's Guardia Urbana, the show features the complicated love life of the deceased officer, Pedro.

Detectives investigating the case uncover a web of lies, deceit and illicit sex that led to Pedro's untimely end.

5. Scoop

Another show based on real-life events, this one follows the story of a journalist accused of being behind the killing of a rival reporter.

The biopic is an adaptation of Indian journalist Jigna Vora's memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison. The case caught the public eye in India with Jigna, a senior crime reporter, alleged to have used her underworld contacts to carry out the murder.

6. Class

Indian dramas are becoming increasingly popular on Netflix. And this show demonstrates why.

Three working class kids are offered places at an exclusive high school after their own school is burned down. Of course, they don't fit in with their new classmates who are wealthy and part of the elite.

The show explores the modern caste system as well as other teen social issues amid the backdrop of a murder.

7. Waco: American Apocalypse

With expert insights and previously unseen footage, this documentary takes a fresh look at the 1993 siege at Waco. The 51-day standoff resulted in the biggest gunfight in America since the Civil War and the death of 76 cult members – including the leader of the Branch Davidians, David Koresh.
