Not all K-dramas are sweet and fluffy with perfect couples at the center. Sometimes, truly horrible pairings take the spotlight and surely teach all fans of Korean culture that toxic love should be avoided at all costs.

Not every show on this list was created with the goal of highlighting romantic toxicity. Sometimes the writers simply fail to portray the lovers in a realistic way, and fans are left with messy couples and ridiculous happily-ever-after finales.

Fans of K-dramas are used to the comfort that the genre usually brings – people love to follow the dreamy romances of Korean couples, to witness their tender love stories that usually lead to well-deserved happy endings.

Sometimes, however, fans are presented with something they never really wanted: following truly dysfunctional couples who are presented as perfectly normal by writers who simply don't understand that their scripts are promoting toxic love.

Of course, not all of the shows on this list have fallen victim to writer's block – some of them were actually created with the goal of teaching viewers about toxic romance, and those shows are quite original and feel like a breath of fresh air.

Be warned though – if you don't want to feel weird while watching a K-drama, don't try to watch these shows, as they can be really provocative.
