7 Reasons Gen Z Children Would Never Survive Hunger Games Today
No wi-fi or Netflix? Sounds like a death sentence.
The Hunger Games series of books and movies presented us with a rather specific picture of a sad future where special survival games were used to pacify the population.
In the end, this system was destroyed by the heroes it spawned. The latter was up to Katniss Everdeen, but could the Zoomers be up to the task?
Our verdict is no.
No wi-fi
The arena is a brutal place where you have to be on your toes at all times, but can you imagine a Zoomer going five minutes without checking the Twitter feed?
Searching for wi-fi just to do that would have gotten you caught and killed.
Shared location in social networks
If you manage to get to a Wi-Fi connection, you can't resist tweeting about how unfriendly the other tributes and wildlife around you are.
The tweet has already been posted, giving away your location. You are dead before even realizing that.
Low social skills
The lockdown during the pandemic has ruined your communication and social skills to the point that you have not made a single friend in the Capitol, but only enemies who will make you their first target upon arrival at the arena.
And you will not be saved by a stockpile of medical masks that you took out of habit.
Poor physical shape
Besides, the lockdown and remote working made many of us so used to lying on the couch and binge-watching Netflix that your physical shape and stamina leave a lot to be desired.
Your heavy breathing after running through the jungle is heard throughout the area, attracting other tributes like sharks for blood.
Yoga
However, if you still decided that you needed to keep yourself in shape to run away from the arrows and knives flying at you, then you probably chose something calm and peaceful like yoga.
Too busy finding peace and meditating, you did not notice another tribute sneaking up on you from behind.
No cooking skills
McDonald's and other fast food chains have become your go-to places, so when it comes to do-it-yourself cooking, you realize you have no idea how to do it, especially in the wild. Death by starvation is guaranteed.
Never been to a real jungle
As a resident of a big city, you only saw wild fruits and berries on Discovery documentaries, so when you get hungry, you may eat something that looks like a blueberry.
And what a mistake would that be in the Hunger Games universe...
