Even those who have scoured the horror section in search of a chilling new tale have probably not come across this slow-burn Scandinavian horror that follows two detectives as they try to solve a string of grisly murders, with the only clue being a small chestnut figurine left at each scene and a link to a politician's missing child.

Free of commercial clichés until the gory ending, The Chestnut Man is tense and intricate, and sure to send shivers down your spine.

Dear Child (2023)

One of the more recently released series on this list, Dear Child begins with Lena in captivity, followed by her traumatic escape after 13 years, but her ordeal is far from over. Lena and her daughter Hannah take center stage in this tense German drama-mystery, as the story's twists and turns continue to unfold through harrowing flashbacks that raise more questions than answers.

The Snow Girl (2023)

Another newer release and another gripping disappearance takes place in The Snow Girl, as a magical parade soon turns into a nightmare for the family of a young girl who goes missing. The Snow Girl is emotional and gripping, and a highly bingeable story that should not be missed just because it is dubbed.

Rough Diamonds (2023)

Another series from Yuval Yefet (of Fauda fame) that has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Rough Diamonds is the story of a Noah who returns home to his ultra-Orthodox Jewish family to pick up the pieces after his brother's suicide and save the family's lucrative diamond business.

Filled with unresolved family drama and shady business dealings, Rough Diamonds cuts through the red tape of the Belgian diamond industry with complex characters, suspenseful storylines, and gritty drama.

Red Rose (2022)

Psychological teen thriller centered around a group of friends who become entangled in a dark situation after one of the group downloads an app called Red Rose, which quickly becomes sinister and intelligent. Perhaps missing the momentum after more mainstream films like Countdown and Nerve, Red Rose manages to delve deeper into the genre and unravel a sinister backstory that explains the origins of the dark app.

Travelers (2016 - 2018)

Operatives from a post-apocalyptic future travel back in time to the 21st century in the hopes of stopping the events that lead to their apocalypse. Travelers explores the idea of sending consciousness back, as random people’s bodies are taken over by the travelers in their bid to change the course of human history through numerous secret missions.
