7 Movies That Hit So Close to Home That They Are Hard to Rewatch, Ranked
We mean those movies that make you weep at the mere thought of them. Buckle up, it’s time for your daily crying session!
Here are seven movies that are too close for comfort, and one viewing is more than enough.
7. Titanic
There isn’t a person who hasn’t shed a tear at this 1997 disaster of a movie. It’s epic love and epic loss: James Cameron sure knows how to put you in a state of absolute despair. You might’ve cussed Rose for not saving Jack a spot on the door, but you still feel for both of them.
6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Jim Carrey doesn’t often act in dramas, but when he does, you just know that you’re in for an emotional rollercoaster. It’s a beautifully told story of love and heartbreak. Even though things do work out in the end, the film is so emotionally charged that you will think twice before watching it again.
5. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The movie may seem like lighthearted teen angst at first, but as the plot progresses, you become more and more horrified. The cast has done a wonderful job of creating this eerie atmosphere that catches you off-guard every time.
4. Marley & Me
Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston looking happy with the dog on the poster are so deceptive that you won’t know what hits you. A hint: the movie is no comedy. Just when you let your guard down, it will kick-start your existential crisis. Be warned!
3. The Danish Girl
Eddie Redmayne is absolutely fantastic in this movie, and you sympathize with Lili’s struggle. The film awakens an eternal question inside you: who am I? It might have come under fire (we’d be more surprised if it hadn’t), but look past all the controversy, and all you’re left with is a tragic story of a woman who just wants to be herself.
2. Hachi: A Dog’s Tale
If you have a dog or just love animals, you bawled your eyes out while watching. The movie is based on a true story – that’s why it hurts so much more. Hachi’s undying loyalty rips your heart out every time (if you have attempted to watch the movie more than once, that is).
1. What Dreams May Come
This 1998 masterpiece is filled with so much drama and pain that it is hard to believe that its main message is to never give up. Your heart is made of stone if you haven’t sobbed all throughout the film.
These movies are hard to rewatch, but so worth it…
