Harry Potter is so iconic that he is the talk of the town for other icons.

The influence of J.K. Rowling's iconic series about a little wizard and a magic school extends beyond books and movies, finding its way into various TV shows.

From subtle to explicit references, these shows paid tribute to the world of Hogwarts and Potterheads.

Here are 7 of the best Harry Potter references in TV shows that have brought a touch of magical nostalgia to the screens.

1. Supernatural

When Charlie was experiencing some apprehension about a mission, Sam Winchester used clever references to the world of wizards to help her regain her focus and confidence.

As her favorite Harry Potter character, Hermione Granger, Charlie braced herself and prepared to kick asses as Hermione did.

2. The Big Bang Theory

This show had enough references to keep Potterheads satisfied. However, our favorite is the one where Sheldon gives Leonard a huge spoiler for Harry Potter and they got into a big fight.

Well, technically you can't spoil something that was released years ago, right?

3. The Office

When one of Michael's personalities took control of him and started telling about his life in prison, we lost it.

Prison Mike almost got us when he confirmed the kidnapping of the President's son, but when he revealed that the worst part of the prison was the Dementors flying around and sucking the life out of the prisoners, we were completely bamboozled.

4. Lost

Remember when Sawyer turned out to have poor eyesight and decided to wear glasses to read books?

Well, in that one moment, he immediately regretted his decision when Hurley came up to him and hit him with a Harry Potter punchline. Still looked hot though.

5. Parks and Recreation

No one is more loyal to Harry Potter and the wizarding world than Leslie Knope. If you haven't seen any of the boy-who-lived movies, you'll either be forced to do the opposite or never be friends with Leslie.

It's up to you, but we would definitely recommend having this woman as a friend.

6. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

One of the most hilarious moments in the show is when Rosa mistakes Charles’ costume in the Halloween special.

Charles arrives dressed as celebrity chef Mario Batali, but his co-workers fail to recognize him. Jake jokingly guesses he's a "dumpy Chuck Norris," while Rosa identifies him as a "dumpy Ron Weasley."

7. How I Met Your Mother

According to Marshall and Lily's theory, a woman's engagement ring is like Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility — once you put it on, no one will notice you.

The reasons are different, of course, but you get the point.
