7 Best Post Apocalyptic Shows To Binge While Waiting For Silo S3
For those with vivid imagination.
We don't know what it is, but something about post-apocalyptic shows makes us want to escape whatever reality we're living in and dive into this unknown world of new life. Even though it is often filled with danger, unsolved mysteries, sinister creatures, and more.
The shows about the end of the world or zombie apocalypse or some virus that wipes out all of humanity are perfect for the viewers who live to be a part of something like that.
And while of course we would all die of fear if something like that happened in reality, the scenarios on the screen are captivating enough to make it all look cool.
So here are seven shows that claim to be the best in the genre.
1. All Of Us Are Dead (2022)
Let's start with this K-drama about the zombie apocalypse that started after a psychotic science teacher created a deadly virus in the school's science lab. The kids got infected and the virus kept spreading, getting out of the school and becoming a real threat to the nation.
The military service tries to investigate and find the teacher responsible for the disaster, while the kids do everything they can to survive the situation. The show is a must see for anyone who enjoys zombie centric premises.
2. Alice In Borderland (2020)
Alice in Borderland is a Japanese science fiction thriller drama based on a manga. The story centers on a gamer named Arisu, who one day realizes that he's trapped in a version of Tokyo where there are no people except for him and his friends.
However, the empty city is a real danger to them, as it begins to play deadly games with them, making it almost impossible to survive. All the games Arisu used to play on the screen have now turned against him, and he'll have to do whatever it takes to survive.
3. Into The Night (2020)
One early morning, the sun that keeps the Earth alive suddenly becomes a deadly cosmic creation that now poses a great danger to humanity. The sun's radiation begins to kill all living things.
However, on the same day, just before the sun rises, the passengers of a flight from Brussels airport become the ones who can escape the catastrophic reality in which they are trapped.
To survive, they must travel from city to city at night to avoid being killed by the sun.
4. The 100 (2014-2020)
The series is set nearly one hundred years after the devastating nuclear war that destroyed nearly all life on Earth.
However, there are still some survivors who live together on a huge station called The Ark. The place is very short on supplies and everything else, so any kind of crime will result in a death sentence.
The underage criminals, though, are not being killed for their criminal activities. 100 of them were sent to Earth as punishment, to face the dangers of the planet and try to repopulate it. The mission turned out to be difficult, but very rewarding.
5. The Last Of Us ( 2023)
The series is set in 2023 (oh the irony), 20 years after the modern world was almost completely destroyed by a massive infection of Cordyceps, which had never affected humans before.
One of the few survivors of humanity, Joel, now lives in a strict quarantine zone, but has a plan to escape with his girlfriend to find his brother.
To leave, he needs a car, and he meets a young girl who promises to get him one if he helps her rebellious teenage sister leave with them.
Audiences were skeptical at first, thinking the writing would be bad and the series would just end up being a low-quality adaptation of the iconic game, but after seeing it, they changed their minds.
“The story is actually compelling and I’m invested in the characters. The Nick Offerman episode specifically made me realize this is an interesting, creative show and not just some boring zombie video game property,” Redditor hambluegar_sammwich said.
6. Station Eleven (2021)
The amazingly gripping post-apocalyptic saga spans multiple timelines and tells the stories of the few survivors who made it through the deadly flu infection.
The series chronicles their journey as they try to do what they can to rebuild the world and its population after nearly everything was destroyed in not one, but many universes.
“Station 11 is the best book to screen adaptation I’ve ever seen. The plot does deviate significantly but the overall feel and look of the show is utter perfection, like it was plucked from my imagination while I read the book,” Redditor RoosSister said.
7. The Rain (2018-2020)
It's a Dutch series dubbed into English on Netflix. The show is about the world being almost destroyed after a brutal virus carried by the rain wiped out almost all humans in Scandinavia.
The two survivors, young siblings, will find the group of people who managed to escape the rain so far and try to create a new life.
