6 The Walking Dead's Most Underrated And Overlooked Survivors
Let’s admit it, these characters deserved way more screen time.
Even though The Walking Dead was criticized for focusing on unimportant dialogues and characters, the show still managed to make many fans feel like some characters in the show just didn't get the love and attention they deserved.
Let’s remember some of those poor guys.
Axel
Introduced in the prison arc, Axel was a former prisoner who became an ally to Rick's group. He was the little ray of sunshine in a super dreary setting. Sure, a lot of fans saw his death coming from a mile away, but some fans believed he deserved more screen time.
Tyreese
Tyreese was the embodiment of the saying "gentle giant." His compassionate nature often clashed with the brutal realities of the post-apocalyptic world.
His struggle with trying to hold onto what's right, made him a fan fave. His death was a significant blow to fans who admired him.
Merle
Merle Dixon, Daryl's older brother, was a character fans loved to hate. His racist and aggressive tendencies made him a controversial figure.
However, as the series progressed, we saw a bit of a softer side, especially when it came to Daryl. When the Governor took him out, fans didn’t know whether to cheer or shed a tear.
T-Dog
T-Dog was one of the original Atlanta survivors. His unwavering loyalty to the group and selfless acts, especially his sacrifice to save Carol, made him a fan favorite. His death in the prison was a heartbreaking moment, reminding fans of the unpredictability of life in The Walking Dead.
Laura
You might remember Laura by that standout neck tattoo. While she wasn't always grabbing the spotlight, her arc had its own significance. Post the Saviors' mess, her choice to join the Alexandria group brought in some fresh hope about change and redemption. And yet, TWD being TWD, she didn't stick around forever.
Backpack Guy
On the one hand, we’ve seen this guy only once and we don’t know anything about him. But the Backpack Guy from season 3 symbolized the moral dilemmas faced by the group.
His desperate pleas for help were ignored by Rick, and his belongings were later scavenged by the group after his death. This incident showed the group's shift from helping others to prioritizing their own survival.
