Not every K-drama is worth the hype around it.

It's no wonder that the South Korean industry is making its way to the top of the global charts on many major streaming platforms. With each passing day, K-drama writers find new ways to entertain their viewers, and almost always they do a perfect job.

Sometimes, however, they get so carried away with their fantasies that the end product is either something that no one understands, or something so boring that viewers used to quality dramas would give up on after watching a few episodes.

So here we have 6 K-dramas that have proven not to be worth the hype surrounding them, and that redditors find it easier to stop watching than to continue the torture.

1. My Demon (2023)

My Demon viewers all say the same thing about the K-drama: it started out great, but then turned into something dull and boring. The audience felt like it didn't live up to its potential, and that’s why they dropped it after episodes 5-6.

At the center of the K-drama is a young girl Do Do Hee, who doesn't believe in love. One day she gets involved with a demon named Jung Gu Won. They sign a document according to which they would become husband and wife. But what’s the catch?

2. Marry My Husband (2024)

This K-drama is a new one, and the Internet is exploding with buzz about it. However, it seems that the romantic fantasy drama about reincarnation and revenge wasn't worth the hype surrounding it.

“I read the webtoon before watching the show, and I prefer the webtoon. I don't mind it when shows deviate from the original story to add more drama, but they changed way too many things, and the whole ex fiancé thing felt random. Also, FL in the webtoon was so badass. In the show, FL was a letdown. I felt little to no chemistry between the leads,” Redditor TimeyxWimey said.

3. My Happy Ending (2023)

The main complaint about this K-drama was that it was too long. The viewers mentioned that the show would have been better off with only around 10 episodes. Another reason why the viewers stopped watching the series was the bad writing which even seemed lazy rather than in poor taste.

At the center of the K-drama is a young and successful woman who has a perfect life, but after the appearance of a person from her past, her life comes crashing down. She is betrayed by almost everybody who she thought would kill for her…

4. My Lovely Liar (2023)

As viewers say, it was impossible to watch the K-drama even after the second episode. Some of them mentioned that it seemed like a waste of time and they didn't even see any potential after starting the series.

At the center of the drama is a young woman named Mok Sol Hee. She has a supernatural ability: she can "hear" other people's lies, regardless of how hard they try to hide the truth.

But it's not a gift of life, as many of you might think, but rather a punishment, because now she has absolutely no faith in people and has to live tormented by other people's lies.

5. Doom at Your Service (2021)

Some viewers who dropped the show mentioned that it was just too hard to follow the plot.

“I dropped it a little while ago. I'm not sure why, but I couldn't understand the plot. I was probably tired while watching it, but I dropped it anyway,” Redditor KANJI667 said.

This K-drama revolves around a young woman named Tak Dong Kyung who has been working hard ever since her parents died. She put a lot of time and effort into her work, but one day her life changed horribly after she was diagnosed with a terrible disease. As the events unfold, the series also introduces some fantasy plot details...

6. My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021)

When people say they get bored watching this K-drama, the diehard fans are ready to prove them wrong. But why? It's okay for a drama to have a different effect on different people, right? The main reason why the viewers decided to stop watching this show is because they didn’t like the male lead, Woo Yeo and the lack of chemistry between him and the female lead, Lee Dam.

“I just can't stand the ML in terms of both casting and writing. He is just this expressionless robot ALL.THE.TIME and I just can't stand it! Zero feelings, zero chemistry, zero expressions, zero character, literally there is nothing worth noting about his character or his performance” Redditor narcoticplease said.
