All good things must come to an end.

There are times when the decisions made by the showrunners and writers of a TV show can have a detrimental effect on the storyline, leaving the viewers disappointed and frustrated, and even causing them to give up on the show.

Here are 5 of the worst decisions ever made in TV history that ultimately destroyed the storyline and viewers' desire to keep following the plot.

1. Killing Off The Mother — How I Met Your Mother

Not to mention the fact that Ted was in love with Robin the whole time, showed up on her porch with a blue horn, and blah blah blah. What was most destructive to the show was the fact that the entire series carefully prepared viewers step by step for the introduction of Mom, only to kill her off in a few episodes. So what was the point of nine seasons again?

2. Love Quinn's Death — You

The only person who could put Joe Goldberg in his place. With more fire, more viciousness, and more lack of compassion for others, Love quickly stole the spotlight from the beloved stalker.

Maybe that's the real reason why she was so easy to kill off the show — no one likes to have their spotlight stolen from them. But it didn't help you, Joe, your wife is still our favorite on the show.

3. Jaime Comes Back for Cersei — Game of Thrones

Jaime Lannister has undoubtedly had the best arc and character development on the show. From a violent and reckless child killer to a compassionate and honorable Kingsguard, his character came a long way.

But the one thing he couldn't change was his loyalty to his sister Cersei, who never deserved him. Jaime's return to save her, leaving behind literally everything he had become over the past few years, devastated fans.

4. Rachel Having A Baby With Ross — Friends

Every time the showrunners do not know where to take the plot, they impregnate someone on the show. Neither in real life nor on the show, children are never a key to solving a problem. The storyline of Rachel having a baby with Ross while being separated feels like a far-fetched plot that should never ever have happened.

5. Fiona's Departure — Shameless

Emmy Rossum's Fiona is without a doubt the main character of Shameless and the true mother of all of the Gallagher offspring. With her struggles and character development captivating the audience from the very beginning, her departure at the end of the ninth season was the real end of the TV show and all the seasons that came after it simply do not exist for us.
