5 Unexpected References to Supernatural in Other TV Shows
Supernatural is just so iconic, other shows can't help but reference it.
The hit TV series Supernatural has left such a significant impact that its presence is felt even in other popular TV series. Let’s have a look at some of the references to Supernatural that have popped up in other shows.
Hawaii 5-0
In the 22nd episode of Hawaii 5-0 Season 3, Episode 2, a poster of Jared and Jensen, the heartthrobs of Supernatural, can be spotted in the bedroom of a kidnapped girl. The abductor was trying to maintain a normal facade to the police, and the poster was part of that facade.
Legends of Tomorrow
Surprisingly, the legendary Impala from Supernatural made a guest appearance in Legends of Tomorrow. The team stumbled upon the Impala while on a mission in Vancouver, the very place where Supernatural was being filmed.
But things took a dark turn when we found out that the crew of Supernatural had met a tragic end.
This show, based on a comic book of the same name, presents a world where superheroes are flawed and controlled by private organizations. The Boys was created by Eric Kripke, who also created Supernatural.
In The Boys, the Secretary of Defense is named Robert Singer, played by Jim Beaver, who also played Bobby Singer on Supernatural. And the name Bobby Singer is a nod to Robert Singer, the executive producer of Supernatural.
In season 2, when Stormfront's Nazi connection is revealed, an Impala meme pops up on the internet.
Big Sky
In the second episode of Big Sky's third season, Supernatural fans had a couple of "wait, what?" moments. One of them is when Beau Arlen (Jensen Ackles ) tells Deputy Weaver (Teri Reeves) “I’ll call your office. Who knows, you could be pretending to be a Fed.”
This immediately reminded fans of Dean and Sam from "Supernatural", who often pretended to be FBI agents.
In the first season's 4th episode, August is checking out his dad's old phone and stumbles across a contact named Winchester Auto. It's an obvious shout-out to Supernatural.
There's also a part where Stella talks about Cordell Walker's gig — that's Jared's character — and likens it to Hunting. This can't be random. Jared was a legit hunter in Supernatural, so, it's definitely a throwback to that.
