There aren’t as many moments as you’d think.

Sheldon Cooper is one of those characters you know even if you haven't seen a single episode of The Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon. Portrayed by Jim Parsons in the original series and Iain Armitage in the prequel, Sheldon is easily recognizable by his appearance, manner of speech, and inability to understand basic social cues.

From the very beginning of The Big Bang Theory, it was established that the life of a young genius was not always fun and easy. In fact, being born and raised as a special needs kid in late 80s Texas was hard and left some imprint on his character. This is exactly what Young Sheldon was created to explore.

Although now that six seasons of Young Sheldon have passed, it's safe to say that he was always as annoying and obnoxious as when we first met him, Young Sheldon had some moments that made everyone rethink their opinion of a guy. Here are five of Young Sheldon Cooper's most heartbreaking moments.

Missy Hates Sheldon

If there's one bond that's stronger than most siblings, it's the bond between twins. However, Missy and Sheldon already have a complicated relationship. Because her parents tend to give Sheldon more attention, Missy often feels left out, so it's not surprising that she takes it all out on her brother. Unfortunately, in this scene, he is the one who has to pay for his parents' bad decisions.

Sheldon’s Nobel Prize Party For One

It was a truly heartbreaking yet hopeful finale. No child should be left alone to celebrate his happy day, even if that is a Nobel Prize announcement but Sheldon was. Good thing the montage at the end quickly reminded the sobbing viewers of all the wonderful friends he will meet and bond with when he grows up. Hands down, one of the best ways to end an episode.

The Nightmare Incident

There’s no one more vulnerable than kids, and Sheldon, although smarter than many, wasn’t so different from the rest of them. When kids are distraught in the middle of the night, they are looking for their parents’ love and protection, and that is exactly what he wanted to get from his dad. Every parent would recognize it as the most heartbreaking scene.

George’s Rage Moment

Of course, every parent has a right to scold their child when they do something that they shouldn’t have done. That is the part of parenting. However, it is hard to watch Sheldon getting in trouble not because he was trying to have some fun, play a prank, or have some malicious intent. He was just being Sheldon, and he was misunderstood.

Missy Not Picking Up A Walkie Talkie

Another moment that brought tears to the eyes of most Young Sheldon viewers. Sheldon tried to reconcile with his sister in every way he knew, using her walkie-talkies as a last resort, but as he soon realized, he was completely cut off. A very sad moment that shows the importance of parental mediation in children's relationships.
