1 episode or 101, when the character is good, it shows.

If you've ever been a part of a fandom, you know that it really doesn't matter how much time the character spends on screen if the audience really loves them or really hates them. It is the mix of personality, acting, and writing of the storyline that influences the viewer's preference for better or worse.

Supernatural is no different. There are just as many people who hate one of the two leads as there are people who love the most minor characters. It's a matter of perspective, and if you don't understand the appeal, someone else surely will.

Here are five characters that are universally loved by Supernatural fans, no matter how short their journey has been.

OG Death

Is there any need to explain this one? The internet is still full of people sharing their tender memories of the horror they felt upon first encountering this character. Death was everything he was supposed to be: a truly terrifying creature that sent shivers down your spine. And he wasn't given nearly enough time.

Ash

In every fandom, there should be a beloved computer genius geek with a weird haircut. For Supernatural, it’s Ash, who worked and lived in Harvelle's Roadhouse with Jo and Ellen, and he truly deserves the adoration that the viewers grant him. His ‘all business up front, party in the back’ looks just add up to his personality.

Rufus Turner

It's hard to believe that Rufus was only in six episodes of the show because it feels like there should have been more. Like he deserved more, at least. However, the fandom did its thing and showered the semi-retired hunter with enough love and attention to make up for it. After all, he took care of Bobby, and that deserves a lot of admiration.

Charlie Bradbury

Many viewers feel that Charlie was killed off very unfairly and should have been kept around a little longer. However, even with her short appearance on Supernatural, she managed to make a very funny introduction and really affect the lives of Dean and Sam for the better. There's not much more you can ask from a character.

Jesse The Antichrist

This kid did the impossible: He appeared on the show once, but had the entire fanbase begging to bring him back for years. If that's not the sign of a well-thought-out and well-played character, we don't know what is. What we do know is that Jesse will forever be remembered by every fan of the show.
