5 Spy Comedies to Watch on Prime After (or Instead of) My Spy: The Eternal City
These comedy gems aren’t a waste of time.
These days Prime Video ’s global chart is dominated by Dave Bautista ’s action-packed comedy about the unlikely duo of a brutal CIA operative and his teenage stepdaughter. However, the movie’s critical score of 21% on Rotten Tomatoes proves it’s a miss.
Luckily, apart from My Spy: the Eternal City, there are still a number of worth-watching spy comedies available on Prime, with 5 of them being enlisted here.
1. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
Obviously, we can’t make such a list without mentioning this genre’s staple. Starring Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson, this stylish film follows a young man who is recruited into a secret spy organization to hunt a powerful eco-terrorist.
2. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Guy Ritchie is a jack of all trades, but this spy comedy proves he certainly belongs to the genre. This must-watch focuses on an American agent (Henry Cavill ) who teams up with a KGB spy (Armie Hammer) to prevent nuclear war, and be sure it’s a wild ride.
3. Spy Kids (2001)
Miss 2000s flicks? If so, revise this nostalgic action comedy about two kids forced to save their parents, who are actually retired secret agents, from an evil genius. It’s a guilty pleasure movie for both adults and kids that will make you all laugh to tears.
4. Knight and Day (2010)
Led by the onscreen power couple of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, this unfairly forgotten gem displays outstanding chemistry of the actors while telling the story of a woman who ends up involved in the exploits of an agent on the run from the CIA.
5. Red (2010)
Finally, we have a star-studded comedy gold that every cinema lover should see. The talents of Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren shine bright while depicting the twisted tale about a group of ex-agents on their final mission.
