5 Spinoffs So Good, The Originals Can’t Compete
Here’s proof it’s okay to get it right only the second time around.
It's very common for someone to love a show so much that they don't want it to end, and they go on to the sequel just to keep spending time in a universe they enjoy.
What's less common is for someone to find the show mediocre, but somehow stumble upon a spinoff and fall in love with it. However, that happens a lot more than you would believe.
Here's a list of 5 spinoff shows that will make you rethink your attitude toward certain universes and give them a second chance.
It's hard to say anything other than great about a show as iconic as Breaking Bad, but many viewers and critics feel that Better Call Saul is even better. Bob Odenkirk's outstanding performance as Saul himself only adds to the incredible production.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Although the original Law & Order series is still on the air and Dick Wolf's procedural universe has another show to compete with, SVU holds a special place in the hearts of many viewers. Dealing with such sensitive topics as harassment and sexual violence, the show has managed to do it justice and has been highly praised for its approach.
The interesting thing about Young Sheldon is that it turned out to be a completely different genre from the original show, The Big Bang Theory. Fortunately, giving the show more dramatic moments and getting rid of the forced laughs was a very good decision that paid off in the long run.
It may be controversial because House of The Dragon only released one season while Game of Thrones had many to screw things up, but many people feel that the prequel surpasses the original in quality. With a much larger budget for CGI, it looks even more beautiful and ethereal than the original show but has more opportunities to learn from previous mistakes.
This is the show that many people wouldn't believe to be a spin-off. But before it became the phenomenon that it is, The Simpsons began as a series of short animated episodes of The Tracey Ullman Show. Today, it's hard to believe that the spinoff has outlived the original by this much, and became this much popular.
