5 Sitcoms to Watch If You Have a Big Bang Theory-Shaped Hole In Your Life
If you've just finished watching all 12 seasons of TBBT and need something to fill the gap it's left in your life – you could just go right back to season 1 episode 1 and start the whole thing again from scratch.
But they say variety is the spice of life. So, if you fancy looking for something else to obsess over in the coming weeks, here are five other sitcoms that might just float your boat:
It's the obvious place to start – particularly if you're not yet ready to go full cold turkey. In this coming-of-age comedy, we track the early life of Sheldon Cooper as he navigates life and high school while trying to fit in with social norms. Jim Parsons plays the voice of the adult Sheldon looking back on his younger years and providing commentary. And there are plenty of references to real-life events and pop culture from the early nineties for those who like a bit of retro.
2. Silicon Valley
This parody of life in the real Silicon Valley received high praise and plenty of awards. It's similar to TBBT in that the main characters are a bit…well, geeky and lovable. For those looking for something that matches The Big Bang Theory for subject matter and humour, this is probably a safe bet.
3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
While this may feel like a bit of a leap from TBBT, being a police procedural comedy, there are some parallels that should make it appeal to fans of The Big Bang Theory. It has that same family feel about it that helps you connect with the characters and get into their world – even if it's a million away from your real life. And it's pretty damn funny!
4. The Office
Thought 'Dinner Party' Was The Office's Cringiest Episode? You Forgot This Gem
Nothing like TBBT but well-written, superbly acted and just funny. If you haven't yet seen it, The Office is a mockumentary that focuses on life in an office. It's a very different feel from The Big Bang Theory but, once again, it's the characters that make it such a success and it's definitely one worth trying for all comedy fans.
5. That 70s Show
A bit more in keeping with the 'friends together' philosophy of TBBT, this is another one for retro lovers. This group is a little wilder than those who feature on The Big Bang Theory but the general premise is one that may well appeal to fans of Sheldon and Co.
